Set in the Indian Ocean in South Asia, the tropical island nation of Sri Lanka has a history dating back to the birth of time. It is a place where nature’s beauty remains abundant and unspoilt.
In the twelfth century, the explorer Marco Polo wrote that Sri Lanka was the finest island in the whole world.

Apart from these famous sites there are hundreds of heritage sites in the island which are frequented by tourists.
For a small island the biodiversity of the country is most impressive as Sri Lanka is home for a wide variety of mammals, birds, fish, butterflies and snakes.
