Occupancy in Abu Dhabi’s hotels and hotel apartments climbed to 71 per cent last year, with over 2.8 million guests checking in, marking an 18 per cent increase over 2012, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA) said in a statement on Wednesday.
This brought almost 8.8 million guest nights – a 26 per cent increase compared to 2012 – and an 18 per cent rise in total revenue to reach Dh5.48 billion.
Food and beverage income also rose 17 per cent to reach Dh2.1 billion.
Abu Dhabi has been named the Middle East’s safest city in the 2011 Mercer Quality of Living Index.
